We are seeking a Digital Communications Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality digital content, strengthen online community engagement, and amplify the reach and impact of our programmes, partnerships, and storytelling.

The Role
The Digital Communications Assistant is a core, full-time member of the GHScientific team. The role supports day-to-day digital communications across web, social media, newsletters, and online events, helping to connect our audiences with our programmes and mission in clear, engaging, and accessible ways.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about science communication, digital media, and community engagement, who is looking to grow within a mission-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities
Website & Content
• Maintain and update website content in line with GHScientific’s brand voice, house style, and SEO best practices
• Prepare, edit, and publish digital content including blogs, programme pages, event listings, and impact stories
• Ensure all content is accurate, accessible, and audience-appropriate
Social Media & Digital Platforms
• Create, schedule, and publish content across GHScientific’s digital platforms
• Support the promotion of programmes, campaigns, events, and partnerships
• Assist with sponsored, funded, and campaign-specific digital content
Community Engagement
• Monitor and moderate online discussions and comments across platforms
• Respond to audience enquiries professionally and in a timely manner
• Identify opportunities for new content based on audience interests and engagement
Analytics & Reporting
• Monitor website and social media performance using analytics tools
• Support reporting for internal reviews, funders, and partners
• Track engagement trends to inform content strategy
Digital Events & Innovation
• Support live online events, webinars, and digital engagement activities
• Stay up to date with digital communications and science engagement trends
• Suggest improvements to digital workflows and audience experience

What We’re Looking For
Essential
• Degree-level qualification in a scientific, STEM, communications, or related field
• Strong interest in science communication and public engagement
• Experience writing and proofreading content for web and social media
• Excellent attention to detail and clear written communication skills
• Familiarity with content management systems and social media platforms
• Highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Desirable
• Experience with SEO, web analytics, or social media monitoring tools
• Experience supporting digital or hybrid events
• Interest in equity, inclusion, and widening participation in STEM
