Science Cafe is a knowledge exchange and networking platform that connects scientists, innovators, and the general public. This meet-up aims to promote community dialogue and scientific inquiry in informal venues such as coffee houses, bookstores, restaurants and bars.
The inaugural Science Cafe Accra featured AI innovator and Founder of minoHealth Darlington Ahiale Akogo. He walked us through the world of artificial intelligence, touching on AI in general, its current applications, its potential in Africa and how it connects to our daily lives.
In this second edition of Science Cafe in Accra, Global Lab Network is partnering arts collective Very Temporary to host young Water Professional Jacob Kwasi Amengor in a riveting talk on ‘Co-Design: the Secret to Sustainable Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Innovations’. This discussion is timely considering the centrality of water to all facets of our lives, be it in rural or urban areas. Climate change is disrupting the equilibrium of our livelihoods, while we face many challenges building and maintaining sanitation infrastructure across Africa. In all this, we need fresh voices to help us forge new paths to solving the ‘wicked problems’ of our times in sustainable manner.
Aside the talk and follow-up conversations, we’re also planning fun activities including speed networking and a pub quiz. Science Cafe promises to be an all-round exciting evening full of learning and memorable interactions.
Please sign up to participate in the Science Cafe and be informed on the latest developments in the WASH Sector. We’re also keen to welcome your ideas and insights as to how we can leverage co-design for sustainable development in Ghana and Africa.
