The first Gathering for Open Science and Hardware (GOSH) was held in March 2016 at CERN, Switzerland. GOSH is a diverse, global community working to enhance the sharing of open, scientific technologies. A key goal of GOSH 2017 was to to create a roadmap to bring together the people, skills and tools needed to make Open Science & Hardware ubiquitous by 2025. The Africa OSH Summit will provide a forum to examine and provide input for a roadmap in the African context.
The 3-day event, to be held in Kumasi, Ghana, 13th – 15th April, 2018, will include
- Presentations & Working Group Discussions on the challenges, opportunities and recommendations, to develop a Global Open Science & Hardware Roadmap for Africa by 2025.
- Workshops on making, hacking and DIYBio for a wide range of stakeholders to experience the process of design, co-creation, problem solving and to contribute ideas to OScH development.
- Unconference sessions by Networks, Startups, African and other global South innovators.
The event is open to Africans and Non-Africans. Apply here
The founding organizers of the Africa OScH Summit are APSOHA (Association for the Promotion of Open Science in Haiti and Africa), Kumasi Hive, The Exploratory, and Global Lab Network.
